Post Menopause is a period when a woman's menstrual cycle has
ceased completely. The most distinct difference between post menopause and
menopause is the decrease in symptoms for example, hot flashes become less
frequent and less powerful.
Most
clinicians believe that the postmenopausal phase starts when a full year of 12
months passes after the most recent menstrual period. Another characteristic
guideline is to evaluate the level of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) as a
consistent indicator of the start of post menopause. An increasing FSH level
shows the clinician that pituitary is over working in an unsuccessful effort to
arouse the ovaries to generate eggs which does not exist. Signifying the end of
fertility, periods and menopause. FSH is measured by a blood test.
Another
most notable change that happens in post menopause is that there is a shift in
estrogen production from the ovaries to fat cells in the woman's body. The
principal estrogen of post menopause is known as estrone (E1) which is changed
from androgens (androstenedione) formed primarily by adrenal glands. Some
estrogen keeps on being produced by adrenals but in reduced amount. The ovaries
in post menopause begin to shrink, but they are still relevant in the body
since some vital hormones namely testosterone are produced there. Testosterone
in a Female is a crucial hormone for maintaining bone, sex drive, and energy
and muscle strength. Several post menopause women starts to see liberation from
menopause symptoms by this time.
Every
woman experiences Post menopause in a different way. There is no definite age
which after menopause occurs and also the cessation or lack of the symptoms
varies differently. The trouble in waiting for menopause to end is the severity
of symptoms and lack of time frames. Besides, the relief brought about by the
post menopause from the severity on menopause symptoms. The unbalanced hormones
make a person be prone to risk of certain conditions such as osteoporosis
genitourinary atrophy and heart disease caused by Low estrogen.
